L‑Acoustics line arrays selected for Paris arena refurbishment

Arènes de Grand Paris Sud, to the south of the French capital, adopts modular L2 audio solution with networked integration to support concerts, sports, theatre and e‑sports

L‑Acoustics L2 line source system has been selected as the backbone audio solution in the newly refurbished Arènes de Grand Paris Sud, a multipurpose cultural, sporting and e‑sports venue in Évry‑Courcouronnes, south of Paris.

AV consultant Fleik and integrator Concept K led the audio system design, placing emphasis on modularity and tight control across varying configurations. The venue transitions between theatre, concert, sports and e‑sports setups, demanding flexibility in coverage and performance.

To realise this goal, the system features upper‑tier coverage via two L2 modules, while lower seating is handled by two L2D units. Four KS28 subwoofers operate in a cardioid flown configuration. The front rows are supported by a central cluster of two A15 Focus units, plus additional A15 + X12 combinations in side zones, and eight X8 front‑fills.

Monitoring is handled with six X12 units. The networked audio gear is managed through an L‑Acoustics P1 processor, alongside four LA7.16i, two LA12X and five LA4X processing units, ensuring flexibility and compatibility with visiting mixing consoles. Network infrastructure is built on Luminex switches with Milan‑AVB redundancy linking audio, lighting, video and intercom systems.

Jérémie Kokot, co‑founder at Fleik, said: “Versatility and modularity were the guiding principles from the start. The venue needed an audio solution capable of delivering consistent, high‑quality sound across very different configurations, whether for a symphony, a rock concert, a basketball game, or a high‑energy e‑sports match.”

Kokot added: “L‑Acoustics systems offer powerful tools such as Dmin/Dmax which allow the gauge to be precisely adjusted according to the event configuration. This provided us with great flexibility with perfectly controlled sound coverage … The compactness of L2 was also a determining factor in the final choice.”

Soundvision software played a significant role in the planning stage. Audience zones were designed in Vectorworks and imported into Soundvision to simulate coverage across multiple event formats. This pre‑calibration reduced risks and streamlined deployment.

Early feedback from artists, production teams and the venue’s director has been positive. The system has been praised for its clarity and adaptability across formats ranging from e‑sports matches and concerts to theatre events.

The flexibility of the system has already enhanced operational efficiency by shortening setup and calibration times between events, giving the arena greater scheduling agility. The audio installation thus positions Arènes de Grand Paris Sud for versatility now and future growth in live, sporting and digital entertainment.
