KV2 Audio for Leicester Square venue

The first stage of a phased upgrade saw Essex Sound & Light install a KV2 ES system in the main sixth floor clubbing area and the lounge area above. This will eventually extend to the VIP/private hire area on the top floor.

ESL’s Mike Glover and Darren Lambert devised a multi-zone configuration for the three-floor venue that features EX10s to cover the perimeter on the sixth floor; main dancefloor L/R stacks of ES1.8 subs and ES1.0 mid-high/bass enclosures, using EPAK 2500/R amp modules; and an EX6, which provides monitoring in the DJ booth.

All control and signal routing takes place in a Soundweb BLU-160, with an existing 3088 Soundweb Lite DSP also part of the set-up on the top floor. Other core equipment includes Pioneer CDJ-1000 Mk3 CD players, existing Technics SL1210 turntables and an Allen & Heath XONE:62 mixer.

Andy Austin-Brown, technical projects director for KV2, commented: “Having worked alongside Mike from ESL on several diverse projects as well as this one, I am not surprised at the success and result in what is in reality three floors of a typical office block that [have] been turned into a flexible and very useable venue. The attention to system configuration and set-up is typical of the approach that the ESL team always individually apply to each project.”
