Kaleidescape launches more affordable Cinema One movie server

Hi-end movie server developer Kaleidescape has launched its first product designed for retail distribution - the new Cinema One movie server.

The more moderately priced Cinema One system from Kaleidescape is targeted at the home cinema market, offering the same hi-end movie experience Kaleidescape customers are accustomed to, but with more limited capacity (4 terabytes).

Up to 100 Blu-ray or 600 DVD-quality movies can be stored in the highest audio and video quality available on the Cinema One. Movies are downloaded from the Kaleidescape Store and once stored are instantly accessible. Previews, menus or ads are taken out of each Blu-Ray or DVD, meaning the film begins where it should.

A user interface enables users to browse through hundreds of movies in seconds. What’s more, Cinema One connects to any home automation system. So when a user presses Play, the lights go down, the masking is set, and the movie starts instantly, creating a truly theatrical movie experience. And with the unique CinemaScape video-processing mode, Cinema One is said to be the best source device available for a 2.35 home cinema.

“We are passionate about the Kaleidescape System, which has always proved exceptionally popular with our customers,” said Kevin Andrews, managing director at London-based Keleidescape distributor ideaworks. “But until now, Kaleidescape’s products have been limited to installation within large home cinemas and whole-home integrated audio/video systems. With Cinema One, we can now offer the same level of enjoyment in a simple-to-install and easy-to-use movie server to anyone who wants to have a truly theatrical movie experience in their home.”

A second Cinema One can be added to double the storage capacity and enable viewing of the combined library on a second television. And a three-year standard limited warranty ensures customers can enjoy their movies worry-free.
