The walk-in sculpture, Kometor, was created under the auspices of artist couple Manfred and Billa Hebenstreit over a period of three years. Located in Peuerbach, Upper Austria, and inspired by the celebrated astronomer and mathematician Georg von Peuerbach, the sculpture features two ‘adventure worlds’ – Water World and Dome of Stars – showing projections of artistic works by the Hebenstreits.
To realise the multimedia presentations, CG-Technik employed AV Stumpfl’s Wings Platinum 4 software, which delivers animated effects, dynamic masks, independent codec management and more. Also specified are specially designed MediaEngines based on Core-i7 technology, while the panoramic projections are achieved via multiple Panasonic PT-DZ6700EL and Hitachi CP-X12000 units.
In a project notable for striking technical features, the Dome of Stars area incorporates Panasonic projectors fitted with 0.8:1 lenses to enable highly detailed projection of the glass star images created by Manfred Hebenstreit. In the same area, a variety of lighting effects created within AV Stumpfl hardware and software add to the immersive visitor experience.
Monika Ozlberger from AV Stumpfl told IE: “In the course of the Upper Austrian National Exhibition the Kometor project has a high local relevance for AV Stumpfl. From the technical point of view, it was very difficult to implement the project, because the realisation represented a high challenge. Only with the new possibilities of Wings, the performance of the VIOSO-warping engine and the extremely high performance of the media engine could the project have been achieved.”
