INFiLED has supplied a WP Series LED display for Westfield Forum des Halles, a shopping centre beneath the Canopée structure in central Paris that attracts more than 64m visitors a year and is home to the world’s most-visited cinema. The screen replaces the existing LED display at Place Carrée, a convergence point for shoppers, cinema-goers and commuters passing between the Paris metro and RER trains.
Westfield engaged French audiovisual design and consulting firm Scenarchie to define the technical and spatial requirements for the new display, ahead of a competitive selection process. Installation work took place between 10pm and 7am over eight evenings, with the team dismantling the existing display, managing power and fibre cabling, integrating the controller into a technical rack, and adapting the mounting structure to the new screen’s dimensions.
The completed display measures 8.4m wide and 4.7m high, with a 2.5mm pixel pitch and a resolution of 3360 x 1890 pixels. The WP Series was specified for its resolution at large format and its brightness, contrast, greyscale and refresh rate performance in a bright, visually busy shopping environment. The display is configured with a Novastar H Series controller and six CVT10-S fibre units, with a 16:9 panel ratio suited to retail content at scale and an ultra-thin cabinet profile.
Jean-Pierre Leandre, head of AV at BTB Audiovisuel, said: “A screen of this size with a 2.5mm pixel pitch requires flawless installation quality, and I was genuinely impressed by the level of care taken in the integration, as well as the overall quality of work by our team and our partner, INFiLED.”
Leandre added: “The cabinets were perfectly aligned, as were the modules. Nothing protrudes. It is truly remarkable work resulting in a high-quality screen that everyone notices.”
