Hydraconnect releases Dynamic 2D/3D display management software

HydraConnect has introduced patent-pending Dynamic 2D/3D display management technology for custom installation environments with mixed 2D and 3D components and displays.

HydraConnect has introduced patent-pending Dynamic 2D/3D display management technology for custom installation environments with mixed 2D and 3D components and displays.

The technology, which maximises viewing options and performance in Dynamic 2D/3D technology, comes in the form of a new software module that has been included in all new HSS matrix processors.

The technology upgrade was installed automatically on all fielded HSS-2 systems in use worldwide during early August without customer or dealer intervention.

HydraConnect’s Dynamic 2D/3D software was developed to deal with the problems that arise in mixed 2D/3D environments in a custom installation (CI) environment where, typically, a collection of 2D/3D sources may be connected in any order and any combination to a varied collection of 2D and 3D capable displays.

Using the HDMI interconnect, this connection has historically been made through an HDMI matrix switch. However, with the exception of HydraConnect LLC’s HSS family of products, present day switches do not have the capability to dynamically adapt to the 2D/3D environment properly.

HydraConnect solves this class of problems through its patent pending use of a dynamically controlled EDID. The HSS products are highly intelligent and can determine the capabilities of both displays and sources, and instantly modify the EDID presented to the source to be correct for the connection that is being made.

Additionally, the HSS family of products can generate an On-Screen Display (OSD) to inform the user of the status of the display and the data stream even if viewable data is not available so that there is no confusion on the user’s part.

“EDID conflicts are a constant source of frustration for customers and installers,” said David Schanin, the president Denver-based HydraConnect. “Dealer can spend hours trying to sort out EDID issues, and often fail to completely solve them to provide maximum performance to the end-user. Our solution is straightforward and simple to understand, though the behind-the-scenes technology is quite sophisticated. This new HSS technology prevents the customer from having to deal with problems they should never even be aware of.”
