Hospitality focus: VEGA Europe InstallAwards project

As part of the hospitality ‘online focus’ this month, we’re presenting the hospitality solutions and projects that won awards at this year’s InstallAwards.

The winner of the Project Award for Innovation in the Entertainment category was VEGA Europe for its bespoke Hospitality Request System at a leading private banking and wealth management company, which was handed over to the client on 12 February 2016.

VEGA Europe developed an easy to use solution to make ordering and delivery of refreshments during meetings simple and not disruptive.

With anything from 1,500-1,600 clients a week using the meeting spaces, the level of service had to be exceptional. Meetings run smoother with fewer interruptions and the banking company had a vision of a service whereby the client could place their refreshment order directly from a meeting room, which would be automatically received in the pantry areas and then delivered within five minutes.

VEGA Europe was responsible for the design, programming and installation of the system and continues to provide support.

Installed on an iPad mini, the interface fits into each meeting/conference room and displays menu options for drinks, snacks and other refreshments. Each order is then received on a wall-mounted touchscreen in the pantry and processed.

The system leverages the power of Crestron’s 3-Series control processors, Smart Graphics touchscreens and IOS control Apps. Guests can select their requirements on the screen with no training and with the added functionality to request housekeeping to clear/clean the room or for an AV support technician to attend if required. Menus can be changed from the master touchscreens allowing for evolving product/service changes.

On winning the award, Tim Dobson, sales and commercial director at VEGA Europe commented: “It’s brilliant. It’s the first award we’ve got, but we’ve only been in the UK and Europe for four years. It really puts us on the map so we’re really chuffed about it.”
