Following the initial approach by the client in July 2008, the project reached completion in April 2009. The HoloPro screens display flight information and updates on clear glass for airport passengers. The lounge was constructed by Todwil, while the screen installation was carried out by expotech.
“HoloPro was the perfect fit for the upmarket, futuristic style that the environment required,” expotech’s proprietor, Graham Harrison, told II.
Regarding the broader adoption of HoloPro in South Africa, Harrison notes that the technology is “extremely popular wherever it is displayed. We always get comments from the public such as ‘wow, that’s like Minority Report or CSI’, especially where we use the HoloPro touch screens.”
Harrison emphasises the importance of letting people see the product in action. “Interactivity is fast becoming the way to go for trade shows and mall tours, and so I believe that with a product like HoloPro we are well positioned to service that market as it grows,” he said.
