Global law firm saves with Polycom videoconferencing

Polycom's RPX series of videoconferencing solutions has been installed in Linklaters offices the world over - including at locations in Frankfurt, New York, London and Hong Kong.

Global law firm Linklaters has deployed new Polycom RealPresence Immersive video collaboration suites at 27 of its offices in 19 countries around the world.

Linklaters advises global corporations and financial institutions on transactions and assignments – making discussions and collaborations between its 5,000 employees worldwide vital to its operations.

The new platform is used for a wide range of activities – from senior exec board meetings to internal training programmes – and over the past 12 months the Polycom system has saved Linklaters tens of thousands of dollars in travel and prevented 1,900 tons in CO2 emissions.

“We support clients in achieving their business objectives wherever they do business,” said Alastair Mitchell, London chief operating officer, Linklaters. “Communicating and collaborating effectively with each other, regardless of location, is crucial to our ability to deliver. Polycom video collaboration makes it possible to collaborate in real-time, face-to-face without needing to get on a flight, where valuable time and productivity is lost.”

Video collaboration is now said to be central to the way Linklaters does business, with plans to expand the Polycom RealPresence Video solutions by installing additional immersive video suites in offices located in emerging markets.

“Providing a meeting environment with face-to-face video collaboration that is as lifelike and natural as if you were in the same room, allows our clients, partners, and colleagues to connect and work together much more effectively,” concluded Mitchell. “The increase in employee demand for video collaboration is proof of the facility’s success. Through the Polycom video suites we are able to hold virtual meetings that promote faster communications across key locations, with the added benefits of reducing travel costs and our impact on the environment.”
