First Baptist Dallas installs huge Barco driven multi-curved screen

Visualisation expert Barco, together with AV systems integrators Burst and Clair Brothers, have created an innovative visualisation platform for First Baptist Dallas’ brand new Worship Centre.

Visualisation expert Barco, together with AV systems integrators Burst and Clair Brothers, have created an innovative visualisation platform for First Baptist Dallas’ brand new Worship Centre. The new 142in multi-curved screen has HD video content driven by seven Barco HDF-W22 large venue projectors, making it one of the largest church AV presentation installs in the US. An adjacent multi-purpose event space and a new Youth Centre also feature additional Barco projectors.

The new First Baptist Dallas campus is part of an expansive and on going revitalisation campaign in downtown Dallas, US, which also features several multimillion-dollar museums, theatres and parks. First Baptist Dallas chose to expand its footprint in downtown Dallas in order to continue serving the core community with a new sanctuary. A cutting-edge audio, video and lighting system is at the heart of the $135 million (€100 million) construction project.

First Baptist Dallas wanted the best quality AV solution to enliven its religious programs with stunning visual imagery for its 3,000-member congregation. Burst and Clair Brothers outfitted the new facility with a bold and engaging 142in screen, fed by Barco’s HDF-W22 large venue projectors. Ten HD video cameras are placed throughout the Centre to capture all the programme elements for image magnification on the central screen in addition to original video and graphic content.

“We’ve worked with Barco projectors on numerous event stages, and really value them for their excellent brightness and contrast in ambient lighting situations, as well as their ease of integration,” commented Seth Morth of Clair Brothers. “They definitely give our customers a high-performance projector for less cost than other alternatives on the market.”

“The projection sub-system presented many challenges in terms of logistics, engineering and installation. Barco delivered their products on time, met the budget, worked out of the box and continue to make each service a memorable event,” stated Robin Heywood, president of Burst.

In addition to the projectors for the main Worship Center sanctuary, First Baptist Dallas installed a Barco HDF-W22 projector at the adjacent event center as well as eleven Barco RLM-W8 projectors for the Youth Centre’s classrooms and meeting spaces.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Barco on this very unusual installation,” said Bryan Bailey, director of Media and Production of First Baptist Dallas. “The consistency and quality of the projectors has really calmed many of our concerns about blending and warping seven images. Perhaps most importantly, the impressive customer service provides much needed confidence in the middle of a truly unique application.”

Scott Stremple, vice president sales, Venues & Hospitality for Barco North America, finished: “We understand that today’s houses of worship are investing in innovative programming to visually support their religious services and Barco projectors are tailor-made for their creative as well as infrastructure needs. We’re committed to serving their wide range of presentation with innovative and cost-effective Pro-AV solutions.”
