Eyevis Omnishapes enhances Dutch studio

Eyevis Omnishapes was selected by Gent-based designer Fisheye designs to enhance the broadcasting studio and improve viewer experience and technological practicalities.

Belgium’s Fisheye designs has implemented an Eyevis Omnishapes LED videowall as part of a revamp to the NOS broadcasting news and sports studio, Hilversum, the Netherlands. Looking for a completely new house style and setting for all its news, sports and current affairs programs, the Dutch Broadcasting Company NOS organised a design contest to transform the studio into a dynamic viewing zone. Gent-based Fisheye designs won the project and designed a system, which features a large video canvas composed of no less than 274 separate Eyevis Omnishapes. These are controlled by several Picturall Octo video servers with custom-made control software. All components of the multifunctional NOS setting were built in the Fisheye workshop in Gent, using state of the art high-tech procedures, such as water cutting, cnc bending techniques, plureacoating, 3D camera visualization & rapid prototyping. The slats are sandwich constructions of ultra light material, incorporating all technical components, such as leds wireless DMX and cables. In the coming weeks Fisheye will be involved with other projects including: Building a Laser-object in Shanghai, design/construction of an Experience Room, an App-tour in a fairy-tale castle, a studio for Canvas, 360° video takes with Coptermotion, a motion tracked vertical dance performance in Gent.
