European debut for Crestron’s Prodigy

The new line of easy-to-install home control products received its Euro launch at ISE 2010 earlier this month. Requiring no special wiring, programming or expensive custom installation, the Prodigy range encompasses solutions for home cinema, audio distribution, lighting and climate control.

A scalable approach allows the system to be expanded easily. For example, a simple home theatre system can be developed to include whole-house audio, lighting and climate control, as well as remote control from laptops and mobile devices. Control interfaces also include touchpanels, handheld remotes and wireless keypads.

Set-up, meanwhile, is achieved by Prodigy Composer software, which is said to allow users to get a system “up and running in minutes without any training”.

“Prodigy gives our dealers the opportunity to expand their market to provide home control for every lifestyle and budget,” said Crestron international sales director Robin van Meeuwen. “Now virtually any homeowner can enjoy the benefits of affordable and reliable home automation.”

Crestron UK’s Petra van Meeuwen told IE Residential: “As expected Prodigy was extremely well-received at ISE by integrators from across the EMEA region. The reaction cements Prodigy as a class-leading product at the affordable end of the home automation market.”
