Eaton launches Solstar FR fire-rated downlights

The new fire-rated, light-emitting diode (LED) downlight enables users to save up to 70 percent on energy and maintenance costs when compared to MR16 tungsten halogen models.

The new fire-rated, light-emitting diode (LED) downlight enables users to save up to 70 percent on energy and maintenance costs when compared to MR16 tungsten halogen models. Power management company Eaton has announced that its Cooper Lighting and Safety business has launched the Solstar FR. The new fire-rated, light-emitting diode (LED) downlight enables users to save up to 70 percent on energy and maintenance costs when compared to MR16 tungsten halogen models. “Our new fire-rated Solstar FR LED downlight is a very efficient and thermally optimised product ideal for installers looking for an easy-to-fit and cost-effective solution,” says Greg Herring, product marketing manager, Eaton’s Cooper Lighting and Safety business. “The selectable drive currents enable the luminaire performance to be tailored easily to any application. Solstar FR is a welcome addition to our comprehensive range of LED downlights enabling lighting designers to easily meet their desired lighting needs in a cost-effective manner.” New Solstar FR downlights feature a driver as standard, enabling the installer to easily select the drive current, providing an extremely cost-effective way to adjust the luminaire output. The driver has four dip switches to allow the installer to set the drive current between 60 and 360 milliamps (mA) in 20mA increments, enabling the output of the downlight to be tailored easily to suit the installation. The new LED downlight has a certified 90 minute fire rating for residential use to British Standard (BS) European Standard (EN)1365-2:2000 and an Ingress Protection (IP) 65 rating, providing protection against the ingress of dust and water. As such, it is suitable for a wide range of commercial and domestic applications with its shallow profile especially suitable for low ceiling voids. Products are available with 3000 Kelvin (K) or 4000K colour temperature options and a choice of three bezel finishes (white, chrome or brass) to suit most environments. Solstar FR downlights come with a wide 65 degree beam angle as standard and with medium 54 degree and narrow 31 degree beam angle versions available for special order. DALI and 1-10 volt dimmable versions are also available on request. www.cooper-ls.com
