Dynacord and Electro-Voice installed at Neue Bult racecourse

The new sound reinforcement system at the Neue Bult racetrack in Hannover Germany comprises Dynacord and Electro-Voice professional loudspeaker solutions.

Modernisation of the Neue Bult racecourse, Hanover, Germany, has resulted in the installation of a new sound reinforcement system from Dynacord and Electro-Voice.

Oldendorf-based integrator M-Akustik e.K was tasked with design and installation of the new system, with managing director Mathias Vette, and operator Gregor Baum heading up the team. Meanwhile, Uwe Schwedhelm, sales director of fire alarm specialists Fleischhauer Ing.-Büro, and Stefan Waltemathe from M-Akustik’s technical support team were responsible for its implementation.

The breif was for a new sound reinforcement system to cover various zones and deliver recorded music, race commentary and announcements.

Following audio simulations 12 x EV Sx600PIX and 8 x Sx300PIX loudspeakers were selected for outdoor areas, including the racetrack, the grandstands and the open air restaurants. Elsewhere, 58 x EVID 4.2TW loudspeakers were deployed in the entrance area, the garden lounge, the shops beneath the grandstands, and the betting hall.

Presets adapted to the requirements of each of the individual area simplifies system operation, while RE90H cardioid hanging microphones in the betting hall facilitate the flow of information froom bookmakers. Adjustments are easily made to the level of announcements and race commentary to reflect changing levels of ambient noise.

Control and supervision of the sound reinforcement system is through two Dynacord P64 digital audio matrix managers along with DSA 8410 and DSA 8805 multi-channel power amplifiers, which can be operated via CobraNet by means of touch panels. One P64 is used to control the incoming audio channels of the 32 zones whilst the other supervises the outgoing audio channels. Furthermore, thanks to the powerful DSA multi-channel amplifiers, each channel can be configured and powered individually.

“When choosing the amplifiers, we opted for these class D models because the extremely high degree of integration in relation to the number of channels and the amplification output they offer set them apart from other 2U devices,” explained Vette. “We were able to adapt the operation mode of each individual channel to the demands of the installation and thereby obtain optimal results, a further advantage being that the power amplifiers and the P64 can be operated together on the same IRIS-Net software platform.”
