Dubai TV chooses Prysm

LPD - Laser Phosphor Display - videowall technology was launched by its developer, Prysm, at the beginning of 2010. The company has now announced its first broadcast installation in the Middle East.

Prysm – developer and manufacturer of LPD (Laser Phosphor Display) display technology – has announced that Dubai TV is its first broadcast installation in the Middle East. Prysm’s display solution features in the broadcaster’s TV sports studio backdrop with a 4m x 1.2m video wall.

“We met with four other manufacturers of different videowall platforms before deciding that Prysm was the right solution for the studio,” said Rashed Amiri, head of Dubai sports channel. “The qualities and features of Laser Phosphor Display technology within the broadcast environment are in line with what we want to bring to the sports channel in the future.”

“I first became aware of this new technology platform at PALME Middle East exhibition,” said Ihab El Baba, managing director of Baba Broadcast Services who has over 20 years of broadcasting experience, as well as strategic consultancy for workflow design for televisions station and newsroom systems. “The crisp picture quality, low power consumption and long life span are all qualities that go beyond existing platforms and I will recommend that other stations use this for studio backdrops from now on.”

“We are proud to have been a part of this project and to have our screens feature on such a prestigious channel in the region,” said Tanvir Osama, director of sales in the Middle East and India for Prysm. “Dubai TV is has an inspirational presence in the industry. For the channel to fully endorse Prysm speaks volumes about the quality and long term impact LPD technology will have, transforming screen backdrops and live correspondence displays.”
