The new Dhanya Theatre located within the Dhanya & Remya theatre complex, Kollam, India, recently upgraded its audio capabilities with Barco’s Auro 11.1 3D sound solution.
Competition is said to be fierce among multiplex cinama’s in the region due to a vast film-going public and a movie industry that ranks among the largest in the world.
To maintain healthy competition among the other cinemas, Dhanya & Remya Theatres contacted India-based professional sound firm GM Audio before then experiencing the Auro sound solution at a different theatre. Satisfied with its capabilities Dhanya & Remya enlisted GM Audio – which has already installed Barco’s Auro 11.1 at more than 10 cinemas – to install the solution at the Dhanya Theatre in Kollam.
The new system is the first of its kind to be installed in India’s Kerala region.
“With Auro 11.1, we are aiming to reach the level of perfection in sound that we’d already achieved in imaging,” commented Mr. Abel Garamhegyi, vice-president sales MEAI and region managing director at Barco India. “The reason for this is that people are driven by both sound and pictures, so we need both to create a total impression. And it works: bookings for Auro 11.1 halls are much higher than the industry standard 5.1.”
