MC² Audio amplifiers and DAS Audio loudspeakers have been installed at the ČPP Arena in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, as part of a full audio system replacement at the 7,000-capacity ice hockey venue.
The arena, home to top-flight ice hockey team Mountfield HK, presented acoustic challenges typical of large sports venues. The ice rink acts as a large reflective surface, while steep stands and high crowd noise during matches created additional complexity. The venue also hosts concerts, trade fairs and exhibitions, requiring consistent SPL and even coverage across all areas without dead zones.
Integrator Dancefloor AVL Solutions installed 24 DAS Audio HQ-212.95 long-throw two-way loudspeakers, configured in five clusters of two units on each side of the stands, with additional units at the ends and above the rink. The HQ-212.95’s coaxial configuration and cabinet construction allowed for solid low-frequency reproduction without the need for subwoofers — a deliberate choice to avoid introducing additional energy into an already reverberant environment.
The loudspeakers are powered by MC² Delta DSP100 amplifiers, which include Dante connectivity. The system can be operated via an XTA/MC² DPanel-8 remote programmable wall panel, with presets configured for different event types including hockey matches, training sessions and cultural events.
Libor Klemenc, CEO of Dancefloor AVL Solutions, said: “The venue is a complex reverberant space with sound reflecting in many directions in what can be a very intense atmosphere. We needed a system capable of providing clarity and dynamics even in the noisiest environment. The new system has achieved exactly that across every area of the space. The coverage is more uniform with the result that hockey games and other events now benefit from a more balanced and accurate sound.”
