Crestron has upgraded its Crestron Technical Institute (CTI) training facility in Rockleigh, New Jersey, installing five 98in LG CreateBoard touchscreens capable of supporting simultaneous input from multiple users, replacing displays and mounts last updated around a decade ago. The screens are mounted across 10 display positions in three classrooms using Chief’s Tempo flat panel in-wall mount system.
At that size and weight, traditional articulating mounts were unable to support the displays without flex or movement, which would degrade the touch experience. The installation also needed to accommodate Crestron’s DM NVX AV over IP solutions in dedicated accessory boxes beside each screen, rather than hidden behind the displays, so trainees could see the infrastructure they would be specifying in the field.
Chief’s Tempo mount system was selected to keep the large displays tight to the wall, eliminate flex during touch interaction, and provide built-in service access without needing to remove the display.
Alex Villiard, principal infrastructure engineer, training, at Crestron, said: “We needed mounting that could handle 98in touchpanels without any movement, support a custom layout that put the infrastructure on display, and let us get in and out for service without turning it into a project. The Chief Tempo flat panel in-wall mount system gave us the flexibility to build something that doesn’t exist as a standard configuration.”
Villiard added that making the DM NVX platform visible had produced a real instructional effect, with the exposed infrastructure prompting students to ask about the hardware and gain hands-on context for systems they will specify in the field.
He added: “The touch experience is exactly what it should be, the infrastructure is visible and purposeful, and we can service everything without taking the room offline. That’s the environment we wanted to build.”
