A new range of universally-compatible backboxes is designed to ensure optimum time-saving installation and adaptability to suit a wide array of devices. The two models – the BBI-UNIV-A and BBI-UNIV-B – come in two sizes to work across a wide selection of the Crestron range.

A new range of universally-compatible backboxes is designed to ensure optimum time-saving installation and adaptability to suit a wide array of devices.

The new backboxes – which can be used with products including the Crestron in-wall iPad docks and Excite 5.25” and 6.5” in-wall speakers – constitute a common solution for all territories. Moreover, if an an end-user has installed a Crestron keypad and wishes to upgrade to the latest Crestron touch screen, the backboxes mean that the shift is effortless, with no extra work required.

The two new models – the BBI-UNIV-A and BBI-UNIV-B – come in two sizes to work across a wide selection of the Crestron range. Installation requires a suitable aperture/opening in the wall; once the cables have been fed through with the conduit, the housing is then fastened into the wall. With the housing in place, the equipment (touchscreen, Excite speaker, iPad docking station etc) simply clamps to it or can be secured with screws into the mineral fibreboard.

Robin van Meeuwen, vp of sales and marketing at Crestron International, told IE Residential: “We expect significant take up on these new backboxes. The ability to offer a standardised solution across regional boundaries has many advantages, not least for the increasing number of integrators with international reach. The upcoming ISE show is the perfect opportunity for us to extend their take-up in the market.”
