Crest Audio system controls club sound for Indonesian bar

Versarray line arrays, CPL+ loudspeakers, Pro-LITE amplification and networked processing provide flexible audio for Seminyak speakeasy-style venue

Attika Bali, a speakeasy-style venue located above La Favela in Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia, has installed a Peavey Commercial Audio system designed to support its transition from relaxed cocktail bar to high-energy late-night venue.

Combining Crest Audio Versarray and CPL+ loudspeakers with Peavey amplification, processing and additional loudspeakers, the system provides the output required for DJ sets while maintaining consistent coverage and clarity at lower levels earlier in the evening.

Crest Audio Versarray 112 MK III passive two-way ribbon line-array modules form the main system. Each combines a 12in Neo Black Widow woofer with two RD 2.6 MK III ribbon tweeters, with adjustable rigging used to direct coverage across the room and reduce variations in level between different areas.

Crest Audio CPL+ loudspeakers provide additional support across the venue, helping to maintain consistent coverage and a balanced presentation throughout the space.

Power is provided by Crest Audio Pro-LITE amplifiers, with the Class-D units providing the headroom required as music levels increase later in the evening.

System management is handled through a Crest Audio PCX platform with Dante. Located on the ground floor, the processor controls Attika’s third-floor audio system across the network, bringing DSP, system control and networked audio together on a single platform.

“It was a great pleasure to be part of the Attika project,” said Akshay Vaidya, director, Peavey Asia Pacific. “It is a distinctive venue within Bali’s nightlife scene, where sound quality, control and consistency are all important.

“The Crest Audio Versarray 112 MK III provides the high output, controlled coverage, clarity and dynamic headroom required for the space, maintaining definition and tonal balance even at nightlife SPL levels.”

Opened in 2017, Attika takes its design cues from Prohibition-era speakeasies, with low lighting, dark wood, leather and antique furnishings creating a more intimate environment than a conventional nightclub. The audio system therefore needed to work at lower levels during the venue’s earlier social periods as well as deliver greater impact as the evening progressed.

Zuben Naik, operational manager at La Favela and Attika, said: “From my experience working with the Crest Audio system at Attika, I’ve found it to be very reliable and consistent for our day-to-day operations. The system has been performing well and gives us a clean, powerful sound that works really well for the different events and performances we host.”
