County Antrim install for PR Lighting

Devised to allow the venue’s resident VJs (visual performance artists) to demonstrate their creativity, the new installation takes the form of a complete PR Lighting solution. Darren Gardiner from Light & Sound FX (LSFX) specified the high-resolution Marveon LED screen P12 Indoor, with 12mm pixel pitch, as the main display above the stage, and a 37.5mm V-LED Spell to run messages and graphic FX at high level around the dancefloor. In the foyer, a further V-LED Spell curtain is fed from its own dedicated content player to advertise upcoming attractions.

All of the displays were provided by PR Lighting’s UK and Ireland distributor, MilTec (UK).

The hub of the system comprises a Window XP Professional computer and Matrox M9140 (quad) and M9120 (2-head) graphics cards, which provide a total of six dedicated output heads simultaneously for layered effects with no loss of resolution. An Edirol V8 eight-channel video mixer with effects is also at the VJs’ disposal.

The new lighting specification is completed by 24 PR Lighting Pilot 250 moving heads, which provide the main beam effects on the suspended (and newly raised) Litec truss.

“We’ve been using PR Lighting for six years and we’ve had no reliability issues whatsoever. Programming of the two displays with custom visuals was straightforward,” said Gardiner.
