Christie MicroTiles become TV stars

Christie MicroTiles have found favour with three TV shows in Spain, providing a colourful and flexible backdrop on the set.

Christie MicroTiles have been enjoying success with Spanish TV. El Hormiguero and Tonterías las justas, two of the leading programmes on Cuatro, the Spanish TV channel, have installed Christie MicroTiles videowalls, in their respective sets. Both of them are using 54 MicroTiles in a layout of 9 x 6, measuring 3.6 x 1.8 metres. The videowalls were installed by Videoreport, a company belonging to the audiovisual group Vértice 360, and a Christie partner in Spain.

El Círculo is a morning chat show broadcast by the regional TV channel Telemadrid from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 am. Presented by Ely del Valle, and aired for the first time ten years ago, the programme has become one of the channel’s leading shows. The show’s set previously featured a huge window, overlooking the street, as a backdrop, but when the show moved studios, the producers wanted to retain a similar ‘window’ effect – and this resulted in Videoreport mounting a MicroTiles videowall in the El Círculo set comprising 24 tiles (2.5 x 1.2 metres) arranged in a 6 x 4 layout.

Julio Chorro, commercial director at Videoreport, recalls that his company’s director of operations first saw MicroTiles at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in 2010: “We were bowled over by the quality of the new system when compared with other current technologies,” he said. “It is the lightest in weight; it has the best resolution, low noise level and excellent image quality. At this moment, we have three clients who have chosen MicroTiles and they are all totally satisfied; in fact, two of them used MicroTiles again in their following projects.”
