Christie and L-Acoustics drive large-scale project mapping event in Portugal

Event provider Europalco deployed 14 Christie projectors to deliver synchronised mapping on 192 tables, and an L-Acoustics L2 line array to ensure full-range sound coverage for football-themed corporate showcase at Lisbon’s MEO Arena

It can now be revealed that Europalco, Southern Europe’s largest event provider, deployed Christie projectors and an L-Acoustics audio system to deliver a large-scale, immersive production for insurance company Generali Tranquilidade’s annual corporate event, held at the 20,000-capacity MEO Arena in Lisbon.

A key feature of the event, which took place in March this year, was the projection mapping of 192 round dining tables. Each 1.8m table was vinyl-wrapped to standardise the surface, then projection-mapped using 14 Christie 20K and 16 16K units, producing synchronised video content across the venue’s main floor. The visual sequence formed part of a broader production that included scenic design, large-scale displays, integrated lighting and audio, and an indoor drone light show.

The L-Acoustics L2 line array was deployed to ensure full-range sound coverage across the venue. Eight Christie 30K projectors powered the main projection surfaces, including two 37m x 10m and two 30m x 10m screens.

According to Europalco, the event also featured Europe’s largest indoor drone light show to date, produced by external partner Ignition Concept. Using 100 drones, the display was integrated into the event’s visual narrative, adding a dynamic, three-dimensional element to the immersive experience.

The production demanded significant logistics and planning, with more than 55 specialists involved and over 1,700 cubic metres of equipment transported in 20 trucks. A month of pre-event preparation included equipment testing, calibration, and coordination across multiple technical disciplines.

Nearly 2,000 attendees entered the arena via the venue’s tunnels, transitioning into the show space through a motorised screen reveal using variable-speed Movecat lifts. Europalco also provided the full lighting rig, staging, streaming setup, camera systems, and scenic elements for the event, which was produced by the agency 2 Inspire.

Pedro Magalhães, founder and CEO of Europalco, said: “Our focus is always on designing environments that align with the client’s message and objectives. This event combined visual storytelling with technical integration at scale, and that’s where our team excels. We’re pleased to have delivered another solid edition of this long-standing collaboration.”
