BSS Soundweb and Crown solution for Meadowhall

A multi-million pound redevelopment of the food quarter at Meadowhall, Sheffield, resulted in the incorporation of Harman's BSS Soundweb London and Crown amplifier solutions.

Midlands-based tsg Media has engaged BSS Soundweb London DSPs to provide the digital backbone for a new audio installation in the food court at Meadowhall Centre, Sheffield. As part of a £7 million redevelopment, the rebranded Oasis Dining Quarter required a new audio solution to replace the old PA/VA system, which although primarily designed for voice had also been heavily relied upon for music. Harman Professional’s UK and Eire distributors, Sound Technology, supplied the equipment for integrators tsg Media, which had to overcome high reverberation time in the open, circular food court. To ensure sound was distributed evenly across three zones – the general area, the portable stage and the mezzanine – a pair of Soundweb London BLU-100 devices were installed in a fixed 12-in/8-out configuration. Remote BLU-8 touch controllers provide control for both the control room and the stage area. Located on the mezzanine level is a BLU-3 wall panel for level and source select. A combination of Crown CTs 2000, 1200 and 600 amps are used to power the system throughout the quarter. tsg’s promedia ams system and tsg ProMedia TLF solid state music player – programmed over the internet – supplies sound for the entire set up. Different EQ and delay parameters have also been preset for the different zones. “BSS and Crown tools are part of my armoury — and what I go into battle with every day,” tsg operations manager Ivan Marsden summarised. “Individually they are great but they work particularly well together.”
