Brompton Technology has helped bring the post-apocalyptic musical Oscar At The Crown to life in a converted basement on Tottenham Court Road, using its Tessera LED processors to drive a 10m INFiLED AR series LED wall. The production reimagines Oscar Wilde’s works against a dystopian backdrop, following exiles in an underground bunker who stage nightly musical performances to maintain their identity and sanity.
The venue, a former storage basement, was transformed into multiple performance areas, including a half-tube carriage, banks of TV screens, a bar, and stage. Brompton says the LED wall supports the show’s narrative and the post-show club environment, enabling visuals to flow between storytelling and live entertainment.
PixelLux, a video and projection design company, designed and generated much of the visual content displayed on the INFiLED LED wall and surrounding screens.
Nina Dunn, video and projection designer and creative director at PixelLux, said: “Colour is really important to me, along with image intensity. The SX40 lets us push visuals through the mirror while keeping them consistent, even during rapid, high-intensity scenes. Its intuitive interface made live adjustments straightforward on a tight production schedule.”
Dunn added: “What was also key from a workflow perspective was knowing that the content we sent upstream would reach the processor reliably. It allowed us to match costume, lighting, and visuals precisely in a show that’s fast-paced and visually layered.”
