With only two speakers and a subwoofer, the SoundWareXS Digital Cinema from Boston Acoustics is designed to work with a TV and is described as a simplified alternative to a traditional AV receiver and 5.1 surround sound speaker system.

The system also offers audio streaming from a tablet, laptop, iDevice, and Android or Blackberry smartphone.

The amplifier to drive the satellite speakers is built into the subwoofer of SoundWareXS, meaning that no receiver or additional components are required.

Features include the selectable ‘Movie’ or ‘Music’ playback mode, allowing the user to tailor the sound for both movies and music. A digital optical input (cable included) for true Dolby Digital decoding, RCA AUX inputs, a mini-stereo AUX input for a portable media device, and Bluetooth capability.

Featuring two high-gloss satellites and a compact, 8-inch front-firing sub, the SoundWareXS system is billed as ‘the perfect way to experience all your entertainment’. It is available now in black at a suggested retail price of £399.90.
