The recent installation of Blackmagic Design’s acquisition, control and delivery hardware has enhanced live production and distribution for Safeliz, a Christian publishing house affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in Spain.
Safeliz wanted to improve the quality of its multimedia offerings. Beyond publishing, Safeliz engages in a host of initiatives including conferences on social issues, online training courses through its Interbooks platform and support for global charitable missions.
Safeliz’s facilities in Colmenar Viejo, Spain, now feature a dedicated production facility, including a studio and gallery control room designed around Blackmagic Design. The multi-camera workflow relies on Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2s, alongside the ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K live production switcher for vision mixing and multiple HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro broadcast decks for content capture and playback.
Overseeing Safeliz’s digital transformation is production and multimedia coordinator, Rickson Nobre. He commented: “My role was to develop a multi-channel strategy aligned with the growing demand for high quality digital content. I wanted to enhance production values and enrich the storytelling.”
Recently, Nobre oversaw the “De Vuelta al Altar” three-day hybrid event featuring the launch of two new thematic bibles, a panel discussion on social issues and live performances by the Brazilian group Arautos do Rei, with a host of in-venue AV requirements, including repeat screens and three LED video walls.
Nobre said: “The integration of broadcast grade equipment in our AV setups not only enhances our ability to take on larger scale productions, but also ensures we can address the technical and creative production needs of our events and conferencing programme confidently.”
He continued: “We also wanted to reduce production costs, implementing a content production hub that wasn’t overly complex or difficult to operate, as we often rely on support staff who don’t come from a production background. With our activities covering such a wide range of events and productions, we required a plug and play workflow that could adapt to those content creation needs.”
He concluded: “For more complex hybrid event delivery, the ATEM Television Studio is our preferred choice; however, we also employ the ATEM Mini Pro live production switcher for smaller scale events and during charitable missions abroad, where portability is crucial. The ATEMs offer a variety of intuitive transition effects such as fades and pop ups and practical controls for seamless operation and shot previewing during event delivery.”
