AV the real star during Matalan’s celebrity attended annual conference and show

Vision Event Manchester (VE-M) delivers the sounds, lighting and production for two day conference, which also included catwalk shows and live music

A Manchester based production firm has completed one of their major projects of the year, working with retail giant Matalan.

Vision Event Manchester (VE-M) won the contract to deliver sound, lighting and production for Matalan’s annual leadership conference at ACC Liverpool.

Matalan’s major event of the year sees more than 500 managers in attendance. The conference includes presentations from the Matalan Board of Directors, product showcases, a fashion show, live entertainment, and this year saw celebrity appearances from Peter Andre and Jess Wright from TOWIE (pictured).

VE-M were brought in to create a range of audio and visual elements at the two-day conference. This included lighting and sound for the fashion show which used a 12m x 3m catwalk, lighting for the 13m x 4m main stage and the creation of huge 25m screen which formed the backdrop of the main conference and fashion show, and was created by using four projectors. Separate 2m x 1m video walls were also created for the break out areas, where Matalan’s latest lines were displayed.

VE-M recently invested more than £250k in new AV equipment and this was used to full effect at the event, with the company’s new green hippo server used to control the projectors and video wall, while their recent investment in new audio kit, the d&b Y series was used for the key sound elements of the show.

Lisa Clayton, director of VE-M said: “We handled the leadership conference for Matalan in 2017, so we were made up to win the contract again and this year has been even bigger and better. It was a fantastic show with lots of audio and visual elements with the mix of fashion shows, live performances from the Matalan Alder Hey choir and awards, combined with more typical business conference elements.”

She added: “The highlight of the show was a catwalk show with full choreography, with special appearances from Peter Andre and Jessica Wright, who are both ambassadors for the brand and regularly feature on Matalan’s online style chat show ‘The Show’.”

Nikki Rice, event manager at Matalan, said: “The objective for this event was to engage the entire head office, logistics and store management teams on gearing up for our busiest time of year – Christmas. In addition to gaining a greater understanding of our strategic objectives for the coming months and into 2019. It’s a challenging event for suppliers like VE-M with a range of different events encompassed in the conference, which all need first rate AV support, but they did a great job.”

VE-M is based in City Works, Manchester and offers audio visual, set design and build, video production, content creation and equipment hire for events. For more information visit www.visioneventsmanchester.co.uk
