The AU-DLM643 low-energy CFL SGU10 40 Lm/W downlight was designed for use in wet rooms and bathrooms. The latest addition to Aurora Lighting’s SOLA 4-in-1 fire rated downlighter range allows the installer to comply not only with Part B of the building regulations (Fire), but also with Part C (heat/moisture loss through the ceiling) and Part E (transmission of sound).
The new generation of fixture – which can also be insulation-covered – uses an integrated intumescent material to seal the downlight and cut-out in the event of a fire. Tested in 30-, 60- and 90-minute fire-rated ceilings, the intumescent material is a carbon polymer matrix that will soften and release trapped gases when subjected to high temperatures. As a result, the material expands and maintains the integrity of the fire barrier.
The AU-DLM643 (pictured here with first layer insulation) can be fitted with Aurora’s 64mm LUNA 40 Lm/W lamp, which comes in three colour temperatures, has a life of 10,000 hours, and is available as a dimmable and non-dimmable lamp.
Carrying a two-year guarantee, the AU-DLM643 has been tested to acoustic standards BS EN ISO 140-3 1995 and BS EN ISO 140-6 1998, confirming that they maintain the ability for an internal or separating floor to provide sound insulation.
