Arch says that it has installed the first white LED screen ever realised in the lobby of the Boréal building in Brussels. The screen fitted by Belgian-based manufacturer Arch was a specially adapted version of its ALSi08 Indoor 8mm LED display, measuring 11m (W) x 3m (H).
Owned by the investment fund Deka-Immobilien Europa, the Boréal complex is to become the HQ of BNP Paribas Fortis’s Retail & Private Banking Department.
An Arch spokesperson told IE: “Most of the biggest worldwide companies making LED screens refused to make an LED screen in white. As we are a fast-moving production company that makes different products, it was not a problem for us to create this kind of screen. [This ability to respond quickly] is one of the strengths of our company.”
Developed to satisfy the requirements of architect Conix, the ALSi08 screen was adapted to appear white (when switched off) in order to match the white tiles of the adjacent walls. It also features passive cooling and silent operation.
“The customer is very glad of the final result, which has met his demands perfectly,” said the spokesperson. “On the final acceptance file there was [one word] – ‘WAOUW!!!!’ No [further] remark.”
