Merrimu (a local Koori word meaning ‘meeting place’) is a venue focused on hosting functions and receptions of all types. Seeking to provide a unique experience for his clients, Batziakas enlisted interior designer Alistair Sarris from Kinetic Space to devise a colour-changing wall washing lighting installation built around Anolis ArcSource 3 and 6 fittings, installed by the project’s electrical contractors.
The specification includes 65 ArcSource 6s to downlight all four walls of the rooms and, illuminating the centre of the room, 32 ArcSource 3s. Power is provided by 4 ArcPower 144 drivers, enabling independent control over the two areas.
The Anolis equipment was supplied along with an E:cue control system, both of which are distributed by ULA Group in Australia and New Zealand. The system features a specially customised front page for Merrimu, enabling the selection of different patterns, chases or looks.
According to Batziakas, the lighting scheme “creates an amazing sense of atmosphere and occasion”.
