PMC has announced the launch of the FREE FS1 audiophile wireless loudspeaker. The latest addition to the FREE range – which is manufactured and distributed worldwide by PMC – is available in luxurious satin white or satin black, and incorporates a flexible design that allows the unit to be used in a wide variety of applications.

Deployable as a WiFi audio solution, wired active speaker or passive device, the slim-profile FREE FS1 enables easy integration with SONOS, Apple or Airfonix WiFi music solutions. If a local source is preferred, a switchable input in the FS1’s base enables plug-and-play with any music source. For enhanced playback resolution, the new system utilises PMC’s ATL (Advanced Transmission Line) technology.

Claimed to incorporate an ultra low distortion digital power amplifier that is 95% efficient, the FS1 features a large linear power supply that offers current delivery in excess of 50W to the HF and 80W to the LF drivers. An integral DSP control provides driver optimisation and complete control of crossover-filter roll-off slopes between drivers.

UK retail prices are £1,800.00 incl VAT for the Passive model, and £3,800.00 incl VAT for the Active model.

Keith Tonge, marketing manager at PMC, told IE Residential: “We have identified a gap in the home and European markets for a true audiophile wireless solution and the FREE FS1 certainly fills that role. Feedback from both CI and hi-fi markets has been very favourable due to FREE’s facility to accommodate Apple, Sonos and Airfonix wireless systems, and the indications from the recent UK CEDIA Expo means we are looking forward to interesting times for the FREE brand.”
