Women in AV announces new arm to encourage diversity across the AV industry

Women in AV, an organisation focused on providing a forum for women working in AV, has extended its outlook to promote, encourage and celebrate diversity across the whole AV industry.

Recognising the need to diversify, Women in AV has opened a new arm ‘Watch AV Excel’, which will be known as WAVE going forward. The group has also launched a new website at www.wavexcel.com and is set to unveil a mentoring programme building on the success of the first scheme which started last year.

The first meeting of the new-look group will take place on 22 October with a packed agenda that will cover what mentoring involves, the expectations and prospects it offers, how it can help your personal development, and more. Past mentees will also share their experiences and explain how they benefited from the programme before attendees will have the opportunity to network with their industry peers.

Abi Brown, MD @Openingz.com and Leader for WAVE UK alongside CDEC MD Toni Moss, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the work WAVE has done so far in providing a space for women in AV to grow their skills and their professional networks while recognising the great work they’re already doing. However, we’ve also seen a clear need for the industry to be more diverse and to be a welcoming environment for people from all backgrounds. Much research has shown the value a diverse workforce brings, so it makes sense to open up WAVE to enable more people to benefit from the opportunities the group provides.”

The next event takes place at the Flux Lounge at Engage Works from 16:30. Register here.
