UK integrator Verrex is to close its UK operation as part of a global restructuring exercise. The company is to refocus on its US domestic market. We understand that the company’s UK operation – headquarters in Hertford and an office in the City of London – will close by the end of the year, and redundancies have already taken place. A Verrex spokesperson said: “We will continue to serve our clients globally through our allied network, which we have done for the past several years. This network is securely in place. We are fully prepared to meet and exceed any expectations our clients have. “We have refocused on growth domestically and have new initiatives we’ll be announcing in the coming quarter. Our New York, Boston and Houston operations are fully operational and will continue to be so.” The company blamed the “realities of global expansion into challenging economic environments such as Europe and China, coupled with our desire to continue to grow domestically” on the decision.” Design, integration, installation, service and staffing all remain as our core services,” the company added. The announcement comes less than three weeks after the company appointed Jon Foot, formerly of Electrosonic, in the newly created role of UK sales director. Verrex’s UK office had no comment to make to Installation. Managing director James Shanks, we were told, is on holiday. www.verrex.com
