Technology Exposed continues to grow

The third edition of Midwich Group-organised Technology Exposed proved to be the largest yet with a record number of attendees enjoying the latest technologies across the AV, pro audio and consumer electronics industries.

Now in its third year, Technology Exposed 2012, which was held on 19-20 September at Ascot Racecourse, bought together a wide range of dealers and resellers from across the AV industry. This year’s event was the biggest yet with more than 900 people visiting over 70 exhibitors across the two days.

Olympians Denise Lewis and Daniel Purves were on hand to open the event, treating the audience to an insight into what it takes to be a winner.

New for this year was three vertical solutions areas covering command & control, leisure & hospitality and healthcare. Each zone showcased a range of AV equipment and highlighted how it could be utilised in each market sector. The healthcare area, for example, featured everything from Canon XEED projectors for X-ray projection, Radvision videoconferencing and B-Tech mounting solutions to digital signage solutions and assistive listening systems.

Elsewhere on the showfloor, Panasonic, which sponsored the event, highlighted its latest B2B solutions, including 1080p lamp-free projectors with HDBase technology, interactive whiteboards for the education market and LCD displays for digital signage. The company also launched its 3,000 ANSI lumens projector, a range of short-throw projectors and an LED videowall in the UK.

Sony, which was celebrating being named the leading company in the installation projector market (4,00 ANSI lumen and above) by Futuresource Consulting, showcased the VPL-D100 and VPL-E200 series of projectors for use in small office, corporate or education environments.

Bosch Security’s Video Management Systems 4.0 (BVMS) had its UK premiere. BVMS will also be integrated with Bosch’s Praesideo voice evacuation system.

On the mounting side of things, B-Tech highlighted its System 2 and Cantabria ranges, as well as the new pop out videowall mount; Chief focused on its Thinstall, Fusion and Kontour solutions, while PMVmounts showcased a host of British-made mounts and brackets.

Atlona introduced its Linkcast wireless HD distribution system, Evoko demonstrated a new room booking system, and Dexon’s 4000 series videowall controller could be seen in full operation.

“Our objective this year was to inspire our customers and their end users,” reveals Stephen Fenby, managing director of the Midwich group. “We wanted to showcase technologies which are both new to the market and new to our customers; we wanted to offer ideas for how different technologies can be combined to provide innovative solutions; and we wanted to demonstrate the levels of technical and logistical support which the Midwich group can provide in order to help customers deliver these solutions to their end users. On all of these fronts, Technology Exposed was a huge success.”
