Splitbeam adds Robert Juliat, Wybron to its inventory

Johannesburg-based Gearhouse Splitbeam has now added several Robert Juliat 2500w Aramis followspots to its rental stockholding together with a number of Wybron Coloram IT 7.5”colour changers.

Johannesburg-based theatre equipment supplier Gearhouse Splitbeam has now added several Robert Juliat 2500w Aramis followspots to the company’s already-comprehensive rental stockholding; becoming, says Splitbeam, the first theatre rental company in South Africa to make these available to local and touring productions.

The Aramis is described as a hardworking, reliable and versatile spot with a well established track record for dependability and great performance on theatrical touring rigs. The Splitbeam team already has it hard at work on Jesus Christ Superstar and believe that this investment will still be paying its dues for many years to come.

“They have remarkably high light output for such a compact unit,” said operations manager Nasim Bismilla (pictured). “They are easy to use, so operators love working with them. Their narrow beam angle makes them perfect for long distance work and they have enough ‘oomph’ to deliver a dramatic effect despite a high ambient light level.”

According to the Splitbeam team, the Robert Juliat range of followspots are undoubtedly the premiere followspot choice for the theatre industry. They are particularly impressed by the versatility of the 2500w Aramis unit’s zoom optics, which are said to be adaptable for each show and can be tailored specifically to the application.

The company has also recently took delivery of a number of Wybron Coloram IT 7.5”colour changers. These top-of-the-range units are the second smallest in Wybron’s Colour Changer range and are said to come with a host of improved features.

Theatre shows will always have a requirement for scrollers as these are most effectively used to achieve a variety of looks without adding load to the lighting rig.

Technological advances in these new Wybron units are claimed to render them almost silent when scrolling and they are now able to be remotely addressed, a feature which saves time on last minute changes and is particularly appreciated on touring shows, where the get-in time is minimal.

The 7.5-inch Coloram IT units are designed to fit the following light fixtures: ETC Source 4 Par, Par 56 and 64’s, Fresnels and HMI’s up to 1.2kw. However, Splitbeam also has 4” adaptor plates to make the unit fit all standard Source 4 profiles and Strand SLs.
