Sony bolsters home cinema offering with VPL-VW1100ES 4K projector

Sony chose CEDIA Expo 2013 to launch its newest 4K projector targeted at home cinema installations.

Sony recently launched its latest home theatre front projector for the custom install market at CEDIA Expo 2013. The VPL-VW1100ES 4K front projector joins the 4K VPL-VW500ES and VPL-HW55ES Full HD 3D home projectors as SXRD-based, large-format displays for the home. The latest projector is designed to bring the high quality, immersive images of a big screen cinema experience into the home.

The VPL-VW1100ES 4K home theatre projector is designed specifically to support the evolving 4K Ultra HD standards such as HDMI Specification Version 2.0 to accommodate 4K/60p content.

With 2,000 ANSI-lumens of brightness, the VPL-VW1100ES projector is suitable for screen sizes up to 300in. Sony’s Advanced Iris3 technology enhances black levels and the device can achieve an 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast. The projector also offers a variety of installation options and includes dual triggers, a 2.1x motorised zoom, expanded lens shift, an RS232 interface, control over IP and compatibility with leading home automation systems.

In addition, the VPL-VW1100ES projector also uses Sony’s Reality Creation picture engine to dramatically enhance all video content regardless of source. Furthermore, the VPL-VW1100ES has an exclusive upscaling algorithm designed for “Mastered in 4K” Blu-ray Discs from Sony Picture Entertainment. The device can also display Full HD 3D movies, as well as 2D and 3D anamorphic films.

The VPL-VW1100ES is available in Europe from November.
