The UK designer and manufacturer is to launch an extensive new range of digital systems at CEDIA Home Technology later this month.
Among other developments, the company will show item from its new Smart Digital Solution (SDS) series, which is to be introduced over the coming year. The first items include the SDS-8×8 matrix, a multi-format CAT modular distribution switch that allows the mixing and matching of analogue and digital AV signals, and combines local and remote connections within one unit. HDMI sources can be connected directly to the input of the matrix, whilst HDMI displays can connect to the output of the matrix via CAT cable.
The chassis can switch and extend up to eight individual sources to eight displays. It is possible to transmit video, audio, control and power over 100m of CAT cable, while the HDCP-compliant unit is compatible with resolutions up to 1080p at 60Hz and 3D.
“We believe we are the first UK company to offer 3D compatible systems to meet the demand for 3D viewing,” said Smart-e’s managing director, Jon Lane. “Much effort has been spent making sure the systems are user-friendly and have extra functionality for multiple applications, from home entertainment to commercial use.”
Smart-e is also launching a range of point-to-point HDMI digital extender transmitter and receiver pairs, beginning with the SDS-900 and SDS-901. Designed to extend the transmission of digital sources such as Blu-ray, Sky STB and media players, both products support HDMI, DVI and Display Port Multimode signals over a single CAT cable up to 100 metres in length. The SDS-900 extends HDMI digital signals, while the SDS-901 has the added benefit of enabling the transmission of either analogue or S/P DIF digital audio over the same single cable.
To assist with the installation process and technical queries, Smart-e is to provide dedicated SDS product training sessions for installers to gain accreditation.
