SGM announces new Germany operation

The move comes as the company look to penetrate key European territories as part of its development strategy.

Danish lighting company SGM Lighting has announced the formation of SGM Germany.

The move, which follows SGM’s acquisition by a Danish consortium at the beginning of 2012, comes as a joint venture between SGM’s two partners and the parent company.

The new branch will focus on the company’s new LED products – launched earlier this year – and is the next step in the company’s plans toward establishing an independent sales structure in key European markets.

Spearheading operations at the Cologne-based Germany arm will be Michael Herweg (pictured right) and Thorsten Sattler, who were previously managing director and sales manager respectively of SGM’s German distribution company, dB Technologies Germany.

“We have already enjoyed a good deal of success in Germany, and having the experience of Michael and Thorsten on board will leverage sales of our wide portfolio of unique LED solutions into even wider market applications,” commented SGM CEO Peter Johansen (pictured left).

Herweg’s co managing director at SGM Thorsten Sattler added: “In January we will start to introduce many new products to the German market, such as the Six Pack in IP65. Another highlight will be the presentation of our new LED moving light series early next year.”
