Screen size matters, says research

Entertainment venues such as pubs can attract more customers if they offer a large screen TV experience, according to research commissioned by Casio.

Owl Visual, which distributes audiovisual technologies to the leisure and hospitality industries, says that it is enthused by research carried out by Opinium on behalf of Casio which reveals that among the criteria cited by sports fans for choice of pub, screen size features in the top five.

Whilst more people are putting larger TV screens in their homes, pubs and bars often have the space to install especially large displays and can, thereby, create an attractive proposition to encourage people out of their living rooms.

“Our research shows that AV is a crucial factor if pubs want to pull in the punters, and size matters,” said Nieve Cavanagh, senior product marketing manager at Casio. “Sports fans will be looking to spend their hard-earned cash in venues with the biggest screens, which is where projectors come into their own. When it comes to AV, it’s really important to think about the total cost of ownership, as maintenance is often overlooked. Products like lamp-free projectors, which require much less upkeep, will often be cheaper in the long run and repay any initial outlay.”

“Resellers need to show their clients that improving the entertainment offering adds to the whole experience and makes customers feel that they are catered for,” said Neil Colgate, general manager at Owl Visual (pictured). “Showing major sporting events on a bigger and better screen than is available at home can bring the punters and the pounds rolling in, and is often less costly than trying to entice customers by selling cheap drinks.”

Next day delivery is available on a huge range of Casio projectors from Owl Visual where suitable mounts and screens can also be purchased.
