Existing distributors Micro-P, Westcoast and Maverick are losing the Vogel’s franchise, and will not be able to buy product after the end of June.
Roland van Marlen, business unit manager for Vogel’s Professional, told II: “We estimate our UK market share in pro AV at 3-5%. We would like to put a zero behind that within a few years.” Vogel’s is currently market leader in Denmark and Finland as well as its native Netherlands, he added, so it should be possible to repeat this performance within the UK market.
Darren Levitt, Midwich divisional director, added that this agreement would lead to a “clean channel to market”, without distributors marketing against each other. “Vogel’s mounts lead the industry in terms of innovation, functionality and build quality, and we will be working extremely hard to increase our attachment rates.”
While Midwich will continue to distribute other mount brands, Levitt stated that Vogel’s already constituted the majority share of his company’s mount sales, sourced from previous distributor BBG Distribution. The BBG-Vogel’s relationship ended when the latter set up its own office in the UK.
