A.C. Entertainment Technologies Rigging division will be running three further two-day Rigging Training Schools during 2011 at the LS-LIVE Studio in Wakefield, England with the first event taking place on Tues 29th/Wed 30th March.

The second Rigging School will take place on Wed 8th/Thurs 9th June, with a third event to be held in September (dates still to be confirmed).

The Rigging School is a training partnership between A.C. Rigging, trussing and staging manufacturer Prolyte and “Backstage Academy”, the Wakefield-based initiative offering various types of entertainment industry training.

Keeping the same format as last year, the comprehensive two-day training programme is an established course that has been attended by industry practitioners from across Europe.

Eric Porter, experienced independent rigger, trainer, adviser and committee member for the PLASA National Rigging Certificate, will again lead the course.

Designed to be accessible and affordable to those with different levels of experience, content is aimed at professionals wanting to acquire specific know-how and expertise to use day-to-day, yet is equally suitable for those in other industry roles wishing to increase their understanding of this sector.
Topics covered include:

• Regulations and Risk Assessment
• Standards and Guidance
• PPE Systems for Working at Height
• Ropes and Knots
• Inspection and Records
• Lifting Principles – Basic Science, Angled Loads
• Truss Assembly and Slinging / Floating
• Bridle Work (Theory and Practical)
• Bridle Analysis (Load Calculations)
• Examples of Common Bad Practice
• Rescue Plans
• Chain Hoists, Rigging & De-Rigging

The content of the training will provide some of the skills and knowledge required for the PLASA National Rigging Certificate (NRC). Participants will receive a training booklet, relevant technical documentation and certification of attendance at the end of the course.

The Rigging Schools offer an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the latest Prolyte trussing products and the full range of new CM Lodestar chain hoist motors, including the D8, D8+ and C1 versions, which are available from AC-ET.

Cost of the course is £349.00 (plus VAT) per person, which includes lunch, overnight accommodation, certificate of attendance and an evening meal with other delegates.
