Riedel is latest addition to AVnu Alliance

The AVB-promoting industry forum has been joined by Riedel, the Germany-based developer of networking technology for video, audio and communications.

The AVB-promoting industry forum has been joined by Riedel, the Germany-based developer of networking technology for video, audio and communications.

The announcement follows a mere three weeks after the TC Group confirmed their membership of the AVnu Alliance during ISE 2011 – a development reported by The ISE Daily here: http://www.installationeurope.com/ise-content/full/avnu-alliance-expands-again.

The group now commands the support of some of the AV and electronics world’s leading names. Founded by Broadcom, Cisco, Harman International, Intel and Xilinx, the AVnu Alliance has since expanded to accommodate the aforementioned TC Group as well as Analog Devices, Audinate, Avid, Barco, Biamp, Bosch, Lab X Technologies, Marvell, Meyer Sound, Micrel, Molex, Peavey/MediaMatrix, Pelagicore, PreSonus, Sennheiser, Shure, UMAN, UNH InterOperability Laboratory, Vitesse Semiconductor, XMOS, Yamaha – and now Riedel.

Explaining the move, Riedel product manager Henning Kaltheuner (pictured) commented: “We have always understood our products as open platforms for integrating standard protocols such as AES, MADI, SIP, and now AVB. [In particular] MediorNet as an open platform backbone technology with bandwidth capacities suitable for numerous 3G video signals, will be helping to expand AVB network installations beyond their current possibilities. We are looking forward to actively participating in the AVnu Alliance for providing an in-depth integration of AVB systems into our MediorNet backbone product.”

Lee Minich, AVnu Alliance marketing work group chairman and Lab X Technologies president, added: “We welcome Riedel Communications to the AVnu Alliance, and look forward to further realising our shared vision for interoperable AV networking via Audio Video Bridging (AVB) technologies.”
