Panasonic Projector & Display’s MEVIX vision: Scaling reliable immersive experiences

Yojiro Matsubara, CMO of Panasonic Projector & Display, discusses how MEVIX, its platform for immersive experiences, is responding to growing demand, AI-driven content creation and the shift toward experience-led design

As immersive technologies expand beyond theme parks and specialist attractions into education, corporate environments and multi-purpose venues, the criteria used to evaluate visual systems are also changing. While performance specifications remain important, customers are increasingly focused on the overall experience that technology enables – and the operational reliability required to deliver it consistently.

Yojiro Matsubara, CMO of Panasonic Projector & Display

At ISE 2026, Panasonic Projector & Display Corporation used its MEVIX brand to articulate how it sees the next stage of immersive deployment evolving. In this Q&A, Yojiro Matsubara, CMO of Panasonic Projector & Display, reflects on changing market expectations and the role of edge devices within complex workflows.

MEVIX is described as a “promise of experience value”. What does that mean for partners and end-users?
For partners, it means having reliable edge devices that provide clear benchmarks for system design – including colour realism, predictable deployment and long-term operational stability. These qualities allow integrators and consultants to build immersive systems with confidence.

For end-users, the result is authentic immersion combined with dependable operation. Whether in visitor attractions, educational environments or live performances, the goal is to ensure that technology consistently enables memorable experiences.

You’ve said that edge devices remain at the centre of the customer journey. Why are projectors and displays still such a strategic foundation today?
Customer experience ultimately becomes reality at the edge. What audiences perceive is the visual canvas created by the light emitted from projectors and displays. That is the moment where the entire system becomes tangible.

Our responsibility is to ensure that this moment of perception is dependable. Colour fidelity, uniformity, maintainability and operational reliability are essential, particularly in mission-critical environments such as large events and themed attractions. When reliability is assured at the edge, we can build a broader workflow alongside customers and partners with greater confidence.

That broader workflow approach is not just a concept for us – it is something we are steadily putting in place, and we expect to share further progress before long.

How is Panasonic strengthening collaboration with technology partners to enhance the end-to-end experience?
We do not believe immersive value is created by one device – or by one company – alone. As workflows become more sophisticated, stronger collaboration across the ecosystem becomes essential. That is why we are expanding open collaboration across the entire workflow, including the SDM slot ecosystem, media servers, auto-calibration technologies, content creation tools and system integrators.

Our goal is to make reliable edge devices work seamlessly with the best tools across the ecosystem, so that partners can design, deploy and operate immersive environments with less friction and greater confidence. Several initiatives are already underway, and we expect this collaborative model to become even more important as immersive deployments continue to evolve. We are already taking concrete steps to strengthen this ecosystem, and we hope to share more news on that front in the near future.

Looking ahead, how will immersive and experiential environments evolve, and how will Panasonic and MEVIX contribute?
Immersive environments are expanding beyond specialised venues into more everyday spaces, including education, visitor attractions and flexible multi-purpose environments. As this happens, expectations around realism and reliability are increasing.

Our focus is twofold: pushing the limits of creative expression while also lowering the barriers to deployment and operation.

Panasonic provides trusted edge devices, while MEVIX represents the strategic roadmap guiding how these technologies enable scalable and sustainable immersive experiences.

You’ve suggested the industry is moving beyond headline specifications towards deliverable outcomes. What is driving that shift?
Several factors are contributing to this change. First, the scale of investment in immersive environments is increasing, which raises expectations around reliability and long-term scalability.

Second, education and corporate environments are increasingly prioritising the experience itself as a way to improve engagement and communication.

Third, AI-driven tools are dramatically increasing the volume of content being created, which introduces new operational complexity.

As a result, customers are evaluating systems not only on specifications but also on predictability, ease of design and integration, and long-term operational stability.

Immersive experiences rely on precise on-site workflows

During ISE you highlighted the PT-HTQ20 alongside the Vivid Prime technology platform. How do these developments enhance real-world immersive deployments?
The key value lies in the ability to reproduce colours precisely as intended by the creator. With a Rec.2020-class wide colour gamut and improved colour brightness in mid-tones, the system can render subtle colour variations and textures with greater accuracy.

This allows both faithful reproduction of source material and more expressive visual rendering when required. In practical deployments, this capability helps ensure that creative intent is delivered reliably and consistently.

You’ve described Panasonic as the foundation of trust, with MEVIX representing forward momentum. How does that combination shape your approach?
Immersive environments demand both reliability and innovation. Panasonic provides the established foundation of operational stability, while MEVIX represents a more forward-looking and collaborative approach to developing new experiences.

Together, these elements allow creative projects to move forward without compromising the reliability that underpins successful long-term operation.

Finally, for organisations planning immersive or experience-driven venues, how can they begin engaging with Panasonic Projector & Display Corporation to explore these ideas further?
The most effective approach is to engage early in the project lifecycle, ideally during the concept and design stage.

At this point, experience goals, technical feasibility and potential risks can be aligned most effectively. Early collaboration helps reduce rework, strengthens the final outcome and ensures that the intended experience value can be delivered with confidence. It is also an area where we are continuing to expand our capabilities, and we look forward to sharing more soon.
