Panama has become the 100th country to use the company’s ActivClassroom products. The achievement is said to reflect both the rate at which educational systems are introducing interactive learning technology and the fast global growth of Promethean.
The ActivClassroom comprises interactive whiteboards (ActivBoard, pictured), Learner Response Systems (ActiVote and ActivExpression) and a suite of specialised teaching software (ActivInspire).
To date, over 500,000 Promethean ActivBoards have been purchased by schools, bringing the number of students worldwide being taught with the assistance of Promethean technology to more than 12 million.
Considering the path ahead, Promethean’s president of sales and marketing for Europe and Africa, Paul Berry, told II: “Many countries are beginning to recognise the benefits of technology for teaching and learning, with governments across Europe making significant investments in technology in education. In addition to interactive whiteboards, there is growing interest in handheld devices, and we expect demand for the Learner Response Systems to continue to grow in 2010. We are working closely with channel partners worldwide to help them provide classroom solutions for the 21st century.”
