Prolight + Sound has announced a new concept ahead of next year’s show, which aims to build on the success of last year and mirror the growth experienced across the event industry.
Prolight + Sound revealed the changes in a press conference from Frankfurt on 2 December, which was also streamed online and included presentations from Stephan Kurzawski, senior VP Messe Frankfurt Exhibition (pictured centre) and Michael Biwer, director Prolight + Sound (pictured right).
The show in 2016 will take place from 5 to 8 April and the new concept includes a new training and conference programme and layout changes to optimise accessibility.
“Over many years the event industry has rode a strong economic wave. So it needs a trade fair platform that keeps pace with this impressive growth trend. Commitment to Prolight + Sound, combined with strong investment, has made the show fit for the future, providing the sector with an unrivalled global show space and trading point”, explained Biwer.
The key manufacturers from the event technology market have had their attendance confirmed including d&b audiotechnik, Elation, Harman, L-Acoustics, Meyer Sound, and Robe Lighting. There is also a number of manufacturers and service providers who will be at Prolight + Sound for the first time in 2016.
￼￼￼￼￼￼The change of date will see the show run from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 19:00, a schedule agreed upon by 75% of exhibitors.
The extension to the conference and seminar programme means every day of the show will have a different theme with a full programme and a daily review.
From 2016 Prolight + Sound will be held on the east side of the Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre with the new concept including a complete change to the hall layout making room for a greater range of products and subject areas utilising six halls and an outdoor area.
Stephan Kurzawski said the changes would mean visitors would get “more information, in less time.” It was also revealed that every exhibitor would be given a new location in the halls, and Biwer remarked that some halls have already been fully booked.
In addition to giving exhibitors new locations, the layout changes also aim to optimise accessibility for attendees with technologies grouped together by sector to make navigating the halls simpler.
There will be six product areas to provide an overview of new product development across the sector. In addition, the ‘Future Talents Day’ is to be extended to appeal to event sector students, trainees and vocational school pupils. The Future Talents Day will be on Tuesday 5 April and allows young professionals to get a firm idea of the career possibilities.
The programme of seminars will extend over the four days and take place in Forum.0 with speakers delivering around 50 lectures across different application areas. The Prolight + Sound Conference will focus on professional users in all areas of event technology and the Eventplaza Conference aims to communicate trends and strategies for event and marketing managers.
This year’s programme will feature a different key theme on each day of the show, which will be the focal point for both the Prolight + Sound and Eventplaza Conferences.
In addition to a comprehensive seminar programme there will also be a number of award ceremonies. The Opus – German Stage Award, which recognises outstanding achievement in the areas of theatre and stage production, live events and open-air events. The Sinus – Systems Integrations Award recognises projects noted for innovative and pioneering use of media technology and systems integration. The Prolight + Sound International Press Award (PIPA) is for the best products in the pro AV industry. The ceremonies take place on 7 April in the ‘Europa’ room, Hall 4.0.
