The first details of the education and learning programme to accompany this year’s PLASA exhibition have started to emerge. Notable features are set to include a two-day programme on AV and systems integration hosted by InfoComm International and examining topics including audio equalisation and audio techniques for corporate AV events.
Meanwhile, last year’s Gottelier Award winner, Midas Klark Teknik’s Alex Cooper (pictured with Rob Lingfield during the 2009 ceremony), will present the Gottelier Masterclass on the subject of human perception, spatial awareness and their relation to audio. There will be a suite of seminars intended to demystify EN54, while the expanded Technologies for Worship programme will feature talks by Wigwam president Mike Spratt and Nimbus Design & Production LD Stephen Ellison, and cover subjects including HoW’s creative use of technology, stage volume in churches, and multi-site and broadcasting solutions.
Other likely highlights include Roland Hemming reflecting on the ‘Millennium Dome 10 Years On’ and a series of seminars about sustainability, drawing on the input of green arts organisation Julie’s Bicycle, among others. Claire Adams and Jonathan Ross from Social Fuel will address the issue of ‘Harnessing Social Media Without Fear’, while the final day of the show will incorporate a run of seminars focusing on Skills & Qualifications in the industry and Best Practice.
The seminars are in addition to the co-location of two new industry conferences: the PLASA International Rigging Conference on 13-14 September, and the Pro Sound News Europe/Installation Europe-hosted AVNetworks 2010 conference on 15 September (see separate story on this newsletter).
PLASA 2010 show director Nicola Rowland commented: “The diversity of seminars and the quality of presenters continues to grow and we are seeing many more sessions that have been created by sheer demand.
