PLASA and ABTT announce joint initiative on skills

Operating offices in Barcelona, Bilbao, Galacia, Madrid, Malaga, Sevilla, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza, Charmex is one of Spain’s leading distributors of AV and videoconferencing equipment.

The award for outstanding business growth was presented during projectiondesign’s annual dealer event at ISE 2009. Charmex’s Lluis Cabezas is pictured receiving the honour from projectiondesign CEO J_rn Eriksen.

“We’re thrilled to receive this recognition from projectiondesign,” said Miquel Tresserras from Charmex International. “Throughout the past year, we’ve been involved in many exciting projects including the supply of more than 50 projectors to our distributor Lunatus for several pavilions in the Zaragoza Expo. This included the Argelia Pavilion designed by The Factory Projectes Especials with projectiondesign projectors and our own inSynergie control system. The dedicated local help and service from Mercedes Sainz was also critical in assisting us with our installation needs, ensuring that all equipment was delivered on time and to specification. We look forward to working with projectiondesign on future projects and to maintain the recognised growth.”

Mercedes Sainz, sales manager Spain & Portugal at projectiondesign, added: “We’ve enjoyed a very fruitful relationship working with the dedicated commercial and engineering teams at Charmex and they have continued to find new opportunities to develop the markets for our products, particularly in specialist areas such as visualisation and display.”

As alluded to by Tresserras, Charmex International recently supplied a host of projectiondesign video projectors for use at Expo Zaragoza 2008. Structured around the theme of ‘water and sustainable development’, the environmentally-themed spectacular made use of projectiondesign equipment in areas such as the Water Tower (28 F30 sx+ DLP projectors), the Bridge Pavilion (23 F30 sx+ projectors) and the Argelia National Pavilion (F30 sx+, F20 sx+ and F10 sx+ projectors). While the Expo has now closed its doors, both the Water Tower and the Bridge Pavilion have been retained as permanent structures.

Sainz commented: “Our projectors were in use almost around the clock for the entire duration of the festival and were seen by millions of visitors from all over the world – a tribute to their ruggedness as well as the brilliance of their light output and the richness of their colour.”

Look out for a focus on the Spanish installation market in the June issue of Installation Europe.
