PLASA 2017: News from Autograph, GDS and Soundcraft by Harman

Reseller and integrator Autograph Sales & Installations announced at PLASA 2017 that it has been appointed one of the UK’s premier distribution partners and main dealers for loudspeaker manufacturer KV2 Audio.

The new agreement follows a lengthy period of cooperation and collaboration between KV2 and Autograph’s rental arm, Autograph Sound, which has resulted in the deployment of KV2 systems on a number of West End and other high-profile productions.

Duncan Bell (left of picture), Autograph’s financial director, commented: “Our experiences with the brand – not only in terms of their product portfolio but also their professionalism and approach to our markets – showed us that they could also be an ideal partner for Autograph Sales & Installations. We do not add dealership or distribution lines to our business very often, but the diversity of projects we are undertaking across many markets requires a broad and flexible portfolio of products – KV2 is an extremely valuable addition to our product range.”

Jonathan Reece-Farren, KV2 managing director (right of picture), said: “It has been very refreshing to work with a company as professional and well regarded as Autograph. With their reputation for going the extra mile and with them already handling many of the UK’s highest-profile theatre productions and installation projects, our shared ethos for delivering an audio experience beyond expectation lends itself perfectly to this partnership and the product portfolio of KV2.”

This news follows the announcement two weeks earlier that Autograph Sales & Installations has been appointed the exclusive UK distributor for Point Source Audio’s SERIES8 and EMBRACE microphones as well as its CM-i series of patented in-ear headsets.

• Lighting manufacturer GDS announced at PLASA 2017 that it has created GDS Korea, a GDS manufacturing and design office in South Korea.

The company has also secured lighting supply and integration company Hansam System Co Ltd as its exclusive distribution partner.

GDS director of engineering Richard Cuthbert commented: “I am extremely pleased to be working with Hansam System and the team in South Korea. With an unparalleled system integration knowledge, it is the right choice for GDS theatre and lighting products. “I very much look forward to improving the technical quality of theatre spaces in South Korea, and driving standards higher, as GDS has a long-standing reputation for doing.”

GDS also announced the new 48-way rackmount ArcSystem Pro D48 Driver. With a focus on value for money and ease of maintenance and servicing, it is compatible with all ArcSystem Pro fixtures and uses Cat5 for distribution.

Additionally, GDS launched the ArcSystem Decor range of fixtures, which provides the same quality of light as the Pro range (for theatres, arenas and auditoria) but is targeted at more general lighting applications.

• Distributor Sound Technology presented the new the Vi1000 digital mixing console from Soundcraft by Harman at PLASA 2017. The Vi1000 offers 96 input channels with 24 mono/stereo mix busses, plus LRC master busses, and support for Dante audio networking – all in a compact form factor that makes it suitable for corporate AV applications, as well as music venues, theatres, and houses of worship, as well as smaller touring projects and rental companies.

The console incorporates Vistonics II ‘knobs-on-glass’ functionality, making it easy to see and access the power and versatility of the mixing environment; along with Soundcraft Faderglow colour coding, which illuminates the fader slots according to function using clearly defined colours. With Vistonics II, each control is always clearly labelled as to its function, despite the assignable nature of the various controls.

The Vi1000’s DSP functionality includes Studer’s SpiderCore DSP engine, built-in Lexicon reverb, delay, and pitch effects, plus onboard BSS DPR901ii dynamic EQ digitally modelled after the original, industry-standard BSS analogue unit. The Vi1000 features integrated microphone monitoring for AKG, Shure, and Sennheiser wireless systems along with vMIX automatic microphone mixing capability.
