The company is introducing two 1080p full high-definition plasma displays, reports David Davies. Designed to suit high-end home cinema enthusiasts and AV professionals, Panasonic Professional Displays Europe’s TH-65VX100 (65in, pictured) and TH-50VX100 (50in) are expected to be distributed through a selected network of Custom Home Cinema specialists.

Employing 60,000:1 contrast ratio and image technologies developed for the Professional Display PF series, the new models also incorporate new-generation plasma display panels (PDP) equipped with a new structure in which a recently developed ‘Dynamic Black Layer’ is positioned at the front end of the panel. The result of reducing the amount of pre-discharge to one-sixth, says Panasonic, is “exceptionally deeper, richer blacks”. The screens are also said to express true-to-life colours in a wide range.

Due to be made available in January (TH-65VX100) and February (TH-50VX100), the new displays also incorporate Panasonic’s 18-bit digital signal processing and Digital Colour Reality technologies, offer a picture resolution of over 900 lines, and arrive with a variety of customisable functions for home cinema users.
